In 2013 Summer I travelled to the United Kingdom. I stayed for a month without having a job because I had resigned from one due to a theft that occurred. I got another through a former colleague of mine who told me that her new boss wanted me to work for them. I started working with them in January until December 2014. In March 2015, I travelled again to start another job knowing that my visa would expire in June, so I said to myself if it expires I will look for someone to marry for papers but I was scared not to be caught by the immigration too. In May this year, I told my aunt that my heart was not strong enough to stay without proper documents, so I came back to Nigeria to renew my visa but was denied, not knowing that God had a purpose for me.
I decided to draw near to God, paying my tithe, cleaning church voluntarily that the cleaning team members asked if I was in their department. I applied for a master’s degree program instead of staying at home, since my brother promised to pay for my fees. During Discovering Treasures 2016, I wrote all my expectations and told God that this is my year of the Manifested Word. I told myself that any money that comes to me, I will sow ten percent. In February 2016, I got a hundred thousand naira from friends and relatives that I knew were not working. I was shocked when my landlord in the UK sent me sixty thousand naira for no reason and told me to buy toiletries with it. This was a landlord who chased me about whenever I couldn’t pay the rent at the end of the week. I laughed because God was so amazing. That same month, I met my sister’s neighbour who worked at the telecommunications outfit I had visited to register my sim. We talked and I told her I was looking for a job. After a week, she asked for my curriculum vitae via a text message and I quickly forwarded it to her. I was invited for an interview two weeks later. Initially, I thought it was a scam, but God remembered me.
The interview went well, with a promise that I would be contacted afterward, but it was not so. After three days, I called the lady that sent my curriculum vitae to them and informed her that the selection process had begun. She told me to hold on while she made a call. She made me talk with the man that interviewed me and he promised that if there is another space, I will be called for an interview. After a week, they called me for an interview, howbeit for a higher position than the previous one. We were three vying for the job and the interview was done through Skype with their office in Lagos. I was the only one chosen and asked to join the other people in training. Others were shocked when they heard the position for which I was employed.
Indeed God is a faithful! I was born a Catholic and I have never been to any other church except The Carpenter’s Church. I found it difficult to become a member initially because my family kept asking why I go to work and worship there almost every day. I have learnt to tithe and give more. My faith has increased. I now speak the Word and work in His vineyard. I thank my pastors for preaching the undiluted Word and I pray that God will give them more wisdom to do so. It is really my year of the Manifested Word. To God be all the glory!
